"LILLIBIT'S DREAM" by Melody Sullivan. Illustrated
by Stanislav Grof

“I want to FLY!” Lillibit, the caterpillar, declares.
But how will she fly? After all, she is not yet a butterfly, and the other caterpillars
don’t believe she can do it. “Lillibit wiggled and squiggled. She jerked and
jiggled. But still nothing happened.” In fact, it will take something greater
than her best efforts to fly. It will take her letting go of everything she
knows. For only within the mystical brew of metamorphosis will she leave her
old life behind and begin a new one.
Certain to appeal to children and adults alike, Lillibit’s Dream takes
readers on a heartfelt journey of big dreams, profound changes, and the gifts
of acceptance, patience and faith. With easy, engaging language and charming,
vibrant illustrations, author Melody Sullivan and illustrator Stanislav Grof
deliver a beautiful analogy for life’s transitions and the miracles
of personal transformation.

Stanislav
Grof, M.D., psychiatrist, author andconsciousness researcher, and one who pioneered
the development of Transpersonal Psychology, accepted the prestigious VISION
97 award granted by the Foundation of Dagmar and Vaclav Havel in Prague on October
5, 2007.
The foundation’s philanthropic mission supports cultural and social projects and ground-breaking prototypes with the potential to bring meaningful change to the future.
Former recipients of the annual VISION 97 award include Karl Pribram, American neurosurgeon and thinker, Robert Reich, former US Secretary of Labor, psychologist Phillip G. Zimbardo, MIT professor of computer science and pioneer in Artificial Intelligence, Joseph Weizenbaum, and semiotician and writer Umberto Eco.

(288-page PDF file), Václav Havel's speech at the Award Ceremony, and Dr. Grof's acceptance speech. As it is often the case with paradigm-breaking ideas, Stanislav Grof's research has been highly controversial. It has received many compliments from prominent scientists of various disciplines, as well as strong criticism and even ridicule. This can be illustrated by the response to his work by the academic circles in his native country, Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic).
In 2007, he received the prestigious Award >Vision 97< from the Foundation started
by the Czech ex-president Vaclav Havel and his wife Dagmar. Seven years earlier,
in the year 2000, he received a mock award called the "Delusional Boulder" from
the Prague Sisyphus Club (a group of scientistic Czech academicians and self-appointed
arbiters of the purity of science similar to the American CSICOP Group).

In 2008, the members of the board of the Sisyphus Club concluded that Stanislav
Grof's ideas were so outrageous and ridiculous that they created for him a special
category - the "Diamond Arch-Delusional Boulder."
